What types of arts and crafts do you do?
I do all kinds of arts and crafts as I teach to adult populations. We use paint, collage, paper, clay and mosaics. I have to think up a project every week for the people I teach. We also do projects with food and plants.

What are your favorite mediums to use?
My favorite medium is glass, tiles and ceramics. I also do collage with paper from all over but particularly like going to Manny’s for my paper. Their selection is awesome!

What is your favorite color?
Anything with earth tones; I just love the colors in nature.

What inspires your art?
Trees, plants, animals, people, anything living and organic.

Who is one of your favorite artists?
Georgia O’Keefe comes to my mind immediately, but too many to say; love works with nature-related themes.

What is your favorite section in Manny’s Art Supplies?
The handmade paper is my favorite section.

Have you ever met the original owners of Manny’s Art Supplies – Manny and/or Frieda Lipton?
Yes, I remember Manny well. As a young college student coming from a home where everything was orderly and neat, I loved the randomness of the store and how there was something of interest in every corner as well as hanging from the ceiling!

Do you have a fond memory you can share?
There isn’t one singular memory, I just remember wishing as a student that I had more money to spend on art supplies! Manny was gruff at times, funny at others. I guess it depended on his mood.

On a lighter note…

What is your favorite dessert?
Anything chocolate.

Where is a favorite vacation spot?
I used to enjoy Key West before it became so commercial. I love visiting parks especially ones that are not commercial and out of the way. I go to Innisfree in Pleasant Valley. It is a beautiful place!

Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names?
I have a dog. My dog is a Poodle/Bichon named Ricky.
