What types of arts and crafts do you do?
As a hobby, I sketch pictures of either cartoon or video game characters by looking at the pictures of them and trying to copy them down as best as possible. It takes a lot of time and effort to do, but it’s worth it.

What are your favorite mediums to use?
Sketching with my #2 pencil because that is where I started my hobby. I used to try to make art by using pipe cleaners and metal wire when I was little. I would also paint, but it requires a lot of concentration and I don’t want to make a mess.

What is your favorite color?
Definitely blue. I like all types of blue, but mostly I like the regular blue and royal blue color.

What inspires your art?
People. When it comes to sketching, I always lack confidence in my own work. So, I show my friends my progress to see what they think about my drawings. When I get compliments from them, I know that I am doing well and it makes me happy, which gives me motivation to continue my work. Sometimes I give my drawings out to people.

Who is one of your favorite artists?
Leonardo da Vinci. I find his way of painting very fascinating.

What is your favorite section in Manny’s Art Supplies?
Most of the time, it’s paper. Can’t draw without paper! Also, I like the gags. I use them as props for another hobby and, sometimes, I need a good laugh.

On a lighter note…

What is your favorite dessert?
I am not a very big dessert kind of guy, but at times, I love a nice serving of lemon sorbet. I just love the taste of sweet lemon running through my mouth.

Where is a favorite vacation spot?
Alexandria Bay, New York. It’s right next to the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. It’s got a nice atmosphere where I can fish and it has a lot of history. The best part is always watching the sunset.

Great job, Jacob! I love all of your sketches, but my favorites are of Mickey and Donald. Both bring back fond memories of watching their cartoons when I was younger. I hope you continue your sketches – you have a lot of talent!

I agree, Jacob – all of your sketches are great! You really know how to capture each character’s personality and unique features.
